Sanitary Sewer
Sanitary Sewer System Overview
The City provides sanitary sewer service to 6,700 customers, utilizing 98 miles of sanitary sewer throughout the City. Sewer mains are televised every three years and cleaned as necessary. Our 9 lift stations are inspected and maintained on a regular basis to ensure reliable, uninterrupted service.Sewer Rates
Customers pay $4.76 per 1,000 gallons, plus a $6.00 fixed charge per quarter. Sewer usage is based on winter quarter water usage, so if a home uses 18,000 gallons of water during their winter quarter, they will also be billed for 18,000 gallons of sewer for every quarter that year. There is a 6,000 gallon minimum for sewer billing. For more information about utility rates, please visit the Water/Sewer Utility Billing page, or view the City Fee List.
Wastewater Treatment
The City of Rosemount sanitary sewer system flows into the Metropolitan Council sewer system to be treated and processed. Approximately 60% of our sanitary sewer budget goes to pay for this service.Beware of the term "Flushable"
Just because the label says "flushable" does NOT mean it is biodegradable. To help reduce the likelihood of costly backups, City staff recommends NOT flushing any of the following, even if they are labeled "flushable":
- diapers
- personal sanitary wipes
- facial tissues, cotton balls, swabs and pads
- cleaning wipes of ANY kind (baby wipes, disinfectant wipes, etc.)
- toilet bowl scrub pads
- napkins, paper towels
- personal products, or any non-organic material
- wash cloths, towels, rags (any cloth item)
- kitty litter
- dental floss
- hair
