Xcel Transmission Line EA

NOTICE IS HERBY GIVEN that the City of Rosemount wishes to notify all interested parties of the availability of an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Xcel Transmission Line project. Xcel Energy is proposing the development of a 115 kV transmission line, expansion of an existing substation, improvements at two remote substations, and a new substation. Associated activities include relocation of an existing 69 kV line to tie into the existing electrical grid, and removal of two 69 kV transmission lines that are no longer required. The Project runs from the Inver Grove Substation at 105 Street East to a new substation on the University of Minnesota Outreach, Research and Education (UMore) Park lands. The Project is needed to support future load growth in Rosemount and Inver Grove Heights, and also increases capacity and reliability to existing customers.

The EA includes review of the 115 kV Rosemount transmission line and associated facilities (Project) and the City of Rosemount will coordinate review of the EA as part of the local review process.

The EA, which assesses the potential environmental impacts of the project, will be available online (Xcel Energy Transmission Line EA Document) and during business hours at the following locations:

Rosemount City Hall located at 2875 145th Street West and Robert Trail Library located at 14395 South Robert Trail.

The purpose of this notice is to provide citizens the opportunity to comment on the EA. Individuals or representatives of organizations are encouraged to submit written comments. Please submit comments to Anthony Nemcek, Senior Planner, at 2875 145th Street W, Rosemount, MN 55068. All interested parties will be heard.
